Jewelry Organization
Jewelry is a favorite gift of the holiday season but is often difficult to store. We can have “good” jewelry, costume jewelry, family jewelry and precious memories wrapped around our smallest treasures. The question becomes, how do we store it all so we can access what we need and protect that which has special meaning for us?
In an ideal world, we would have the storage space for our jewelry within our existing closet space. There would be a number of jewelry drawers and hanging options. Adding velvet liners, in a variety of configurations, and a lock on closet drawers can be a good solution.
However, most of us don’t have the ideal closet so what do we do when we have to find another solution? The answer will depend on what space you do have and you overall needs. Here are a couple of my favorites for each type of jewelry storage option.
Wall Solutions
A hanging wall system is a good choice when you have free wall space behind a door or in an awkward spot in your closet or bathroom.

These custom pieces from The Wooden Corner on Etsy can be made to fit any décor and nearly any jewelry configuration. If you don’t want to see all the jewelry or you need a dual purpose full length mirror, these are ideal for easy access to a large number of pieces:
Countertop Options
Bracelets often take up too much room in a drawer so I love these bracelet tubes. This one comes in gold with a matching necklace and ring stand from the Container Store. You can find many similar tube options with a quick online search.

There is no end to the options for choosing a countertop jewelry box. Just be sure you consider the number of pieces you have and the storage capacity of the jewelry box. You want to be sure you choose the items from your collection that fit comfortably within the box. If you have to squeeze jewelry in, you will stop using the box and your system will break down.

When storing valuable jewelry, invest in a jewelry safe. There are a variety of configurations that will keep your jewelry secure while providing visible access to what you need.
Start the year off right by creating a space for your favorite jewelry items so they are organized and easy to find when it’s time to sparkle.
